About The Film:

After first meeting writer Horton Foote in 1988, Professor Dixon McDowell spent decades filming interviews and collecting footage for a documentary on Foote’s life and legacy. Originally shot on 16mm film and self-funded, the project faced years of delays due to advancing technology, format changes, and McDowell’s professional commitments. Now retired and with a renewed urgency, McDowell has partnered with his former student and award-winning filmmaker Philip Scarborough to bring the film to completion. Following the costly transfer and restoration of aging film and audio materials to 4K, the team now seeks $100,000 in crowdfunding to cover final production, editing, and archival needs, with a release goal of 6–8 months.
